My name is Beatrice and I am a pretty little gray tabby
girl. My cat Momma, Hannah, showed up in late March, 2010. Momma and
Daddy were worried about her because she looked so young and was getting
fatter everyday. They trapped her on April 10. They took her to the
vet the next week and Dr. Groberg said she was going to have kittens at
any day.
I was born April 19, on KJ’s birthday. I was originally
named Bravo because I looked like the second one born and Momma and
Daddy were not going to keep me originally and they did not want to get
too emotionally attached. My eyes were the second to open and I was the
first one to start eating the wet kitten food. I also was the first one
over the wall. The wall is the shower in the master bathroom where we
stayed after we were born.
When Momma and Daddy went to Miami for Daddy’s eye
appointment, we went to the vet to be boarded. The plan was to leave us
kittens and bring Momma Hannah home so I stayed and waited for a nice
family to adopt me. My little brother, Charlie was adopted right away
but I was not. Some nice families looked at me but wanted to make sure
I would be loved at their homes so they waited. I was very lonely and
spent my time curled up with my white plush kitty. Momma wanted to
keep me and was hoping I would not get adopted so she could keep me.
After a week, they had to take Waldo in for a check up
and Yuki in for a nail trim and when they got there, I was still there
so they brought me home.
Because I was so skinny with long legs and a big head,
Momma thought I looked like a super model and she was going to name me
after one but could not find a name she liked that started with a “B”.
Then she did some research on the internet and found several men with
the name of Alphonso that had married women with the name of Beatrice.
She researched the names Beatrice and Alphonso together and found a
brother and sister named Alphonso d’Este and Beatrice d’Este. Alphonso
d’Este was the third husband of Lucrezia Borgia and Beatrice d’Este was
the Duchess of Milan in the late 15th century. I am named
after Beatrice d’Este. I think that is very cool.
I am spoiled rotten and do have a temper. I love being
back here and I love wrestling with my brother Alphonso.
